I chose the Long Beach Main Library because it has a special place in my heart. I spent many days in here researching premature birth and health conditions. I delivered a 23 week premature baby and I don’t know what I would have done without the information I gathered in this Library. Through this project I discovered many things I really could never have answered. One being the use the Dewey Decimal classification system .
This library consist of two floors and upon entering there is beautiful artwork and the Friends of the Library bookstore. There is also an array of free handout and a Government kiosk. The main floor included Media, Government Documents, works of Fiction, the Miller Special Collections room, Technology Learning Center, Information center for people with disabilities, and the Auditorium and meeting rooms.
The upper floor is the Children’s Library, Teen and Young adult, career center/business resources, References, Information, International Languages, Genealogy and Periodicals. Also found would be the Long Beach history files with photo files and maps. More importantly private rooms for disabled patrons along with books on tape and dvd’s for check out. The library is very well equipped with work stations and placed to read without interruptions.
The library’s two main resources are the online catalog and the career guidance center’s online source. Both of these are very efficient and beneficial to the patrons. One including resources to other libraries and sites for job placements.
The internet information system offered to the patrons was amazing they also offer assistance in different computer programs. I was very impressed with the services offered for people with disabilities. They offered special equipment for the visually and hearing impaired.
The Long Beach Main Library really impressed me and the support of historical Long Beach. I found the children’s department very kid friendly and I truly love the attention they have placed in people with disabilities. The library offers many services and librarian support to assist you.

Hi Tammy,
ReplyDeleteI elated as I read your Library visit blog. I broswed through the Long Beach Main Library before, but didn't pay that much attention. I was there last year looking for a specific book.
After reading your impressive blog, it made want to go back and see the things I missed.
You were very thorough, I enjoyed it.
